Screen modes
Reference
The basic workflow
- Install ScreenGen on the phone, tablet, or computer that will be in frame. See Install on a device.
- Pick a mode from the tiles — Plates, Social, Phone, or Video.
- Dress the content in the Screen and Content sections (names, photos, posts, a local video, or a still image).
- Arm a cue when the shot needs a timed call, message, notification, playback start, or still reveal.
- Hide UI (and optionally turn on Take lock), then roll camera.
Mode categories
Across the top of the panel you’ll see four categories:
- Plates — chroma green, white, mid gray, and tracking marker fields.
- Social — unbranded feed and vertical skins (FB, IG, Linkd, TikTok style).
- Phone — iOS and Android home, calls, video calls, messages, and notifications.
- Video — fullscreen playback of a recording, or a still PNG/JPEG, on this device.
Tap a category, then tap a tile to switch the stage.
Control sections
- Screen — Picture Adjustments (Temperature, Tint, Luminance), markers, social fill, and video / still file controls.
- Content — phone dressing: caller name, photos, wallpaper, time, messages, notifications, and the home layout editor.
- Cue — trigger delay, Screen power, Screen wake, Start / Cancel (phone, video, and still modes).
Pairing sits in the top bar rather than the panel: Pair Remote hands control of this screen to a second phone, and Pair devices drives several displays from one. See Supervisor remote and Pair devices.
Quick actions
The bar near the top of the panel is for the take:
- Hide UI — clears the control chrome so only the stage is visible.
- Take lock — keeps controls hidden; triple-tap the screen to unlock.
- Fire cue — same as Cue → Start; shows countdown when a delay is set.
- Screen — toggles screen power on phone modes (black “off” look).
Tip: Tap the stage to show or hide controls. Double-tap a slider label (Temperature, Tint, or Luminance) to reset that control.
First visit coach
The first time you open the app you may see a short coach: pick a mode, dress Content, then arm a cue. Tap Skip or step through with Next / Done.
