Pair devices

Pair Device runs the other way round from the remote: one phone hosts, and up to eight displays join it. Push a saved scene to every display at once, or a different scene to each.

Remote or devices — which one

Supervisor remote is one controller driving one display live, slider by slider. Pair devices is one phone driving up to eight displays by pushing scenes you have already saved in a project.

The difference that matters on set is which device shows the code. For a remote, the display shows it. For devices, the controller shows it and the displays join.

Host from a project

  1. On the controller phone, open Projects and open the project holding the scenes you want to send.
  2. Tap Pair devices, then Start hosting.
  3. A code in XXX-XXX form appears with a QR code and the address the displays should open.

Hosting needs Pro, and the project needs at least one saved scene — this pushes saved scenes rather than live settings.

Join from each display

  1. On each display, open screengen.tv/pair.
  2. Tap Scan QR code, or type the code under Pairing code and tap Connect.
  3. The display confirms which number it is. Install ScreenGen to the Home Screen when prompted for true fullscreen, then tap Continue to display (or open the installed icon and return to the generator).

Displays join without signing in to a ScreenGen account — only the controller hosting the session needs Pro. Displays are numbered #1 to #8 in the order they join. A session holds eight; a ninth is turned away. Codes expire after 24 hours.

Push a scene

  • Select the devices you want, then tap Push on a scene to send it to all of them.
  • Use Assign mode to set a different scene per device, then Push assignments.

The controller shows a preview of what each display is currently showing, so you can check the wall without walking it.

Manage paired devices

While you are hosting, every joined display has a card on the controller:

  • Its number and label, and the scene it is showing — or Waiting if it has not been sent one yet.
  • Connected or Away, so you can spot a display that has dropped off the network.
  • Identify flashes that display’s number on its own screen — the quick way to tell which phone is which on a crowded set.
  • Rename sets a Device label, then Save. Naming them for their position beats counting numbers.

Stop hosting ends the session for every display and stops the code working — those displays return to the pair page; they do not keep the generator. A single display can drop itself with Leave on its paired bar.

Note: Paired devices are not a standing list. A pairing lives and dies with its code, so there is nothing to revoke later — stop hosting, or let the code expire. Account sign-ins are managed separately under Account.
